He replaced Nasser as the leader of Egypt in 1970 because Egypt lost 3 consecutive wars to Israel. Sadat removed Soviet influence in 1972 and felt they couldn't align with the atheist Soviets so he planned for the Yom Kippur War in 1973 and turned toward peace and goes to Israel in 1977 therefore he wins Nobel Peace prize and leads the Camp David Accords consisting of Carter (USA), Sadat (Egypt) and Begih (Israel).
